SASS and Christmas Around the Corner

The Scandinavian Affiliate Super Summit conference takes place tomorrow in Stockholm and Cperspective will of course attend. Hopefully we will run into a few of our advertisers and learn some more about our vibrant industry. Hopefully I will be able to attend both days, but we have so much things going on at the office now so I might only attend tomorrows conference. Luckily the conference is just a 10 minute walk away from our office so I can go back and forth a bit if the weather allows me to do so (it’s about -10 degrees in Stockholm at the moment).

Other than that it’s only about 20 days left to work for us at Cperspective, and then it’s Christmas break! I personally love the Christmas holidays, and during the weekend me and my girlfriend decided to give our home a touch of Christmas. Here are some pictures:

Team Spirit and Moral is Contagious

One of the key things in a all companies, and especially a small company is the team spirit. The moral of a team can be decisivie of what the team achieves and what level it can operate on. This is something that I often notice at the office. In some cases for example one of us might be hyped up, and oftentimes this makes the other guys hyped as well. We all start talking and brainstorming about different situations and in the end we’re all working as hard as we can the whole day just because of that little hype session.

But this is an two edged sword because it goes both ways. If one of us is having a bad day this can bad for the whole team because it can easliy bring others down as well.

I think it is important as a leader to be able to build team moral, but it is extremely difficult to do so all the time. One of the most common ways we build up the team spirit at Cperspective is by having discussions about our personal goals and making them the goal of everyone in the team. The idea is that our goal is not reached until each personal goal of all people involved is reached. This way we all know that we’re working for eachother, and by having regular discussions around this we also keep reminding ourselves that we’re a team where everyone’s goals is equally important.

When you have a small team it’s important to keep the mood up. Even if you have a bad day you should leave it at home because when you’re in the office it’s not about YOU, it’s about the TEAM and what’s best for the team. I know this is impossible to do at all times, but it should be the ideal for everyone who want to work on an optimal level at all times.

Weekend? Some Work and Some Play

Another weekend has almost passed, but weekends do not always mean work breaks. Most of us at Cperspective work weekends too, and not just because we have to always but also because we enjoy doing so. It’s hard to stay away from working when you really enjoy what you do; it’s like an hobby. I know Anwar and Catalina has been working on our latest project, and we are soon launching it. Me and Martin has been working on our advertising network and some campaigns, which is what we more or less always do. We never really have any time off work, because we are all always available for each other more or less 24/7.

With all that being said, we work hard and also play hard. So as a little treat for myself I bought myself a well-earned Playstation3 this weekend. I bought three games as well, Soul Calibur IV, Uncharted 2 and Fallout 3. My girlfriend fell in love with the PS3 and especially Uncharted 2. We have played the game the whole weekend and it’s pretty damn awesome.

Anyhow, tomorrow is back to office, so I’ll get back with another update later on.

Dear Blog, Forgive Me!

I am really sorry about my nonexisting blog routine. I know I’ve said this before, but I really would like to get a regular blog posting going here.

So what’s been up lately? Well let me tell you!

I’ve been working harder than ever, and the ever changing Cperspective just keeps… changing! We are always up to something new, whether it’s products, people or projects. And this time we have actually seen some new people enter our cuddly cottage, as well as new products and projects. Within the next two weeks I will be able to give away more information about one project especially.

The focus at the moment for us is to develop our services in display advertising. We are working on some interesting stuff at the moment that hopefully will result in a kick ass product within a few months.

In the next post I’m thinking about starting a new series of posts that deals with how we run our company over here. Some type of “from-being-a-start-up-and-not-knowing-much-to being-where-we-are-today-and-where-we-will-go-from-here” kinda thing.

The Shadyness of Online Marketing is Highlighted by Online Marketers Themselves

Yesterday I was browsing around on some of the websites of other companies working with similar things as ourselves. One thing that struck me was that several of these companies almost feel guilty about being Online marketers, and have to highlight the fact that there are some unreliable companies and methods in our industry. I don’t understand why really.

If you log on to Volvo’s website, or BMW, you don’t see them talking about all shady car brands and makings out there. Nor do they talk about any doubtful production methods that exist in their industry. The reason that they do not talk about this is simply because there is no reason to do so. Why should a legitimate company have to excuse themselves for being in the same industry as other shady companies?

The Online marketing industry has a lot of innovative, creative and hard working people that work endless days on their projects and for their client’s. A lot of the people are highly motivated and driven, and come up with own solutions based on their own experiences and their clients needs. This is also why the Online marketing industry is so vibrant, dynamic and in constant change. This is something to be proud of if anything.

Let’s face it, there will always be shady companies in all industries. The only way to wash away that shady mark is to focus on all the good aspects of the Online marketing industry instead of being ashamed to be a part of it. If you’re not using any doubtful methods, then why are you feeling guilty? I would never excuse myself for being a part of this industry, I’m proud of it because I know that me and my team always do our best to assist our clients in their needs.

The Benefits of Being Small

It’s a bit funny how a lot of companies are afraid of admitting that they are small. At Cperspective we’re quite proud of being a small company. The reason for this is that we think our industry benefits smaller companies in many ways.

1. Being a small company makes us more flexible.
In theory, we could change our whole business by next week if we wanted to. We could go from doing banner advertising to only doing web design, or… selling apples. The Online advertising industry changes rapidly, and the larger the company, the harder the change. We are small and dynamic, we can adjust our business to the market instantly, and this gives us an edge on a lot of larger companies.

2. We don’t have time to waste, so we won’t waste yours.
One of the downsides of being small is that we never have enough time. However, as most things in life, theres two sides of the same coin. Not having enough time also means that we do not waste other peoples time. We do not have lengthy processes where we keep our clients on hold before getting back to them. We do things quickly, to get quick response and know what we will be doing within the next few weeks.

3. We build a strong team.
The atmosphere at Cperspective is great, not only because all people here are great, but also because we are so small. Our small size make us grow tighter bonds to each other, and we are like a small family in the office. There are no walls between the CEO (me) and the other guys, we all sit at the same place. A strong and happy team is the best foundation a company can have, and oftentimes it leads to equally happy clients.

In the beginning, I was also scared of admitting that we were a smaller company. After a few years I have now realized that this is a big benefit in many ways, and I am actually very proud of our size. We don’t want to be the biggest company around, we want to be the best at what we do. That comes with having a great team, atmosphere and the right people for the job, not being the biggest.
